The first step

Time is running up! We have just begun our race to Canada and the first step was done.

It’s a stressful way to get there. We have a lot of work to do. Giants check lists and some money to pay are some of our challenges. And the time, of course, is our biggest enemy. We have to send our application before thousand people do the same.

But I am confident! I think this federal work program in advertisement is a great opportunity for immigration. Our best chance until now, definitely! We have all the requisites and, mainly, the desire and motivation.

I don’t like being excited for something that is not for sure, but it’s impossible do not have expectations.

Unfortunately, despite my graduation and experience in advertisement and marketing area, all I can do is getting some points in English, in IELTS test. And for this, I’ll do my best. I’m ready to study with all my dedication and strong. I’ll get these 5 points, you can write it. =)

Well… the first step is already done. Now, let’s run a marathon. I’m ready! Let’s go forward!

More on Breaking Bad (and Dexter!)

If you, my non-existing reader, Breaking Bad fan, take a look at my previous text about the show you may think: “what a stupid fella!” Well, in my judgement, I’m not stupid. So let me try to explain myself a little.

Ok, I was really overwhelmed by the series when the credits for the seventh episode from the forth season took place on the screen. “That’s a little late, dumbass. There’s plenty of amazing stuff before that”, the fan may also think. I’m not a complete dumbass, but I agree with him. There’s a bunch of really cool, catchy events before s04e07. I could name some: the Tuco’s saga, some intriguing events regarding Walter’s family, the development of Jesse’s character and his affair with that cute drug addict, Rank’s attempt by the twins from hell, and more. So much more. Highlights were the episode with the old man in the wheelchair  (the closest of “genius” the series ever was), and all events regarding Gale’s death at the end of third season; that was really, really thrilling.

Satisfied, non-existing-breaking-bad-fan-reader? There’s more.

I deeply appreciated the creation of Hank’s character. A criminal as Walt having a DEA agent in the core of his family was charming, such as Dexter having a lieutenant sister. Feels like a time-bomb. You know something very juicy comes from that relation at some point. At least you expect that.

Now what I don’t quite like. Something that bothered me so far in BB: the main character took too small part in the action as I thought he would. In Dexter, the serial killer conducts the events, taking the lead in the process, as his narrative perspective confirms. Heinsenberg, in the other hand, did a small contribution for the main events so far (and I said SO FAR), drifting along, passively, while big things happens around him (I can’t be more specific unless I give some spoilers, which I won’t). I believe, though, that this is going to change, as Heinsenberg will take major steps to solve his problems and that won’t happen without some confrontation.

One last awful thing about Dexter: the end is simply terrible. The final episode is poor and messy. For all the reactions I’ve seen, It doesn’t seem that BB is gonna end the same way.

Breaking Bad, at last!

Finally, I'm hooked to Breaking Bad. It took me a while, almost 4 out of 5 seasons actually. I just finished watching s04e07, Problem Dog. I can say, it is spectacular, specially the closure of the episode (how thrilling!).

Why it took me almost the whole series to be amazed? Guess it was the excess of expectations. Ever since 2013's Emmy, some friends of mine couldn't talk about anything else. The word I saw the most to describe the series was "genius". To be honest, I haven't seen anything genius until the present moment. What I've seen was a pretty well-constructed screenplay, a great cast and some really friendly characters. Nothing genius in that, though.

I can't help it to compare with another series I've seen in the last months: Dexter. The plots are similar in many levels. Both are about an anti-hero, going through wrong paths and deceiveing their closest. While Dexter series suffered with uneven seasons (why season 3 was ever created for?), Breaking Bad, for what I think, suffers with rhythm. Sometimes things happens in such a slow pace that I ask myself if it was really necessary to develop some scenes. Although BB has a huge advantage: the plot is solid and the screenplay has no apparent (at least for me) flaws. In the other hand, one doesn't need to be a genius to catch the holes in Dexter's screenplay.

Well, that's a lot to happen in the final episodes of BB. Actually, there's a whole season to be seen. But I can assure: it is an excelent series, despite of my extra-high expectations (at first, now i don't have them anymore). Let's see if anything seriously genius comes up, then I'll come back to tell. For now, I still prefer Dexter rather than BB, even with all the incongruences of the first one.

First things first

This is a blog of mistakes, grammar mistakes. So, if you got here by accident, excpect to see a lot of typos and misspellings. The idea is to practise the english writing, to see our improvement on a daily basis. And write it wrong, until we got it right. We hope this blog to be a powerful tool on making english language part of our lives. Cause that's what we want: speak better, listen better and write better.

So, sorry for the mistakes. They'll vanish almost completely soon. =)

My doubt, my hope, my hurt

It’s not just too simple to make a decision. Even more when this decision is about the rest of our lives. It’s not that easy to choose the harder way. The unsafe way. But yeah, how they say: the harder, the better. Because in the end of the worst track, it will be the most beautiful view.

Canada had never been a dream. But Brazil had become a nightmare. Every Brazilian citizen can say why. We live among fear and violence, there’s no respect for life, for society, for rules... there’s no respect for people. We feel stuck all the time. Stuck by traffic, stuck by violence, stuck by no hope. I’m fighting right now for a mediocre life, where I’ll have a little more of money and stability, but I won’t be immune from these nightmares above. It’s not what I want for my life. It’s not.

But what I really want? I don’t know.

Canada is now my easiest option to follow. It’s quite easy to go to Canada, comparing with others possible countries I would like to live. I know it’s cold and stuff, but I really guess that the good things are bigger than this little detail. Vancouver, specially, seems to be a lovely place to spend a lifetime. I’ll go for it.

Anyway… My thoughts are a mess. I love my family too much to go away, but I can’t give up of my dreams because of it. For now… Just let it go.

When will we getting there?

We use to ask ourselves when we’ll getting there. When our lives is gonna change. When we’ll finally be satisfies with the way we get. But… think with me… what’s the life but an unfinished look for the perfection? We’ll never getting there. But no one will.
